Cryptocurrency on the Rise – Social Media Competition

Didn’t think it was true but Facebook is blocking the posts.

I’ve been on a new Social media platform that has, at its base, a cryptocurrency blockchain. I’ve been posting on Facebook to let all my friends and family know. Guess what, Facebook is blocking the posts.

Ok, so I’m not too sure how many of you will see this post on Facebook. Please let me know.

As most of you know I love to dabble in new technologies and software. About four years ago I stumbled into Bitcoin and blockchain. I wish I could say that I was in deep on BTC ( short for Bitcoin ), especially with the recent rise in BTC, but I’m not. I tinker with the backend, mostly, and never really bought much, sigh.  I did see it as s simply a store of value and not much more.

Over my summer holidays, I did stumble on to a new social media platform called Steem. It’s been around for about a year and is, if you will excuse the pun, picking up steem.  The platform is built around the concept of “Proof of Brain.” This simply means that people earn the currency (STEEM) by using their brain.  As you create content you are rewarded with STEEM. There is also an opportunity to curate content and reward others with upvotes (and an additional stake in the rewards pool.)

The first is a pool of tokens dedicated to incentivizing content creation and curation (called the “rewards pool”). The second is a voting system that leverages the wisdom of the crowd to assess the value of content and distribute tokens to it.

This is just a little bit of a background to get you interested. Maybe? I’m excited about this concept as it has all the properties of a means to get cryptocurrency into the hands of the masses.  You can earn cryptocurrency and not even think about the cryptocurrency. It’s as simple as posting a good piece of content.

Here’s a recent example of one of my posts (you can see my feed on the mySteemit page.)

Please let me know if you see this post. Also, let me know if you ever make it over to Steemit and set up an account. If you do I’ll delegate some Steem Power to you to help you get going. If you have any questions about the platform and how to make the best use of it let me know. There are artists, musicians, bloggers, writers along with others. I’ve added a link to the Steemit Blue Paper. It’s a general audience paper on Steem. For those more inclined I added the Steem White paper as well. It has all the math and cryptocurrency algorithms (a good read to learn about the backend.)

At least have a look. Another gem, since I’ve joined the Steem Backed Dollar has gone from $1 USD to $12 USD.  Just say’in.
